New season means new shows! To begin, here’s Moshidora. This show airs every day until it’s done. We’ll release at our standard speed, however.
Warning: this is a show about baseball. Do not let the screen shot fool you.
Update: For those of you with playback problems we have created patches and new torrents. Download and enjoy.
Update Again: I don’t know what’s going on with these files, but here, have a v3.
Torrents: removed

Good i dont have to download gg trash now
same here.
LOL
Oh my god, you don’t know how much I love you guys for picking this up. Was waiting for a decent group to pick this up
Thank god you guys picked this up.
Like denpa said. So see this completed in a year ?
Thanks for subbing the shows you do.
OH… and nice having the Paganini Moto Perpetuo as your little music motif here on the page (heh heh… don’t think at least someone didn’t notice!)
At least a year and a half. I’m desperately stalling episode 3 as we speak.
You wish. =)
Everytime I open ep 1, I get a BSOD…Is anyone having this issue as well?
CRC check is OK?
Yeah
I have the same issue! Each time I try to open episode 1, I get the BSOD. I thought it was my gpu drivers. So i updated it. Still happening. I crc’d it, everything.
Works fine for me. Sadly, this means it’s a problem on your end. Update your drivers, use CCCP instead of some fail player, and offer a prayer to THE LORD.
I’ve got the same problem, episode 1 and 2 both cause BSoD upon opening. I’m using a recent build of MPC-HC and CCCP, so I don’t really get it. Everything else plays fine.
Thanks for the release anyway.
OMG Frostii. Thanks so much for releasing this!!
Wow, I think I’m gonna like this one. Thanks for picking it up.
I’m getting a BSOD with this release as well. All my other files work. It’s just these two files. I recently updated my vdi drivers (AMD), so I thought that had something to do with it (Maybe it broke my video stack), but my games and other video files worked fine.
CCCP v10.10.10
MPC-HC v1.5.0.2827
Win7ULT x64
AMD 5770 (Sapphire brand) w/ Catalyst 11.4 driver package (released a couple days ago).
Never had this happen with Frostii release before. Did the encoding process change recently?
Me too. I installed the 11.4 driver release from ATI/AMD. Before hand I had 11.3. I got the BSOD with 11.3 so I updated to 11.4 hoping for the issue to be fixed. Than I thought I’ll update my codec since the problem still occurred. I doubt is my cpu’s problem since it plays BD fine. I’m using K-Lite codec’s 7.15 with MPC-HC V1.5.2.3052, Windows 7 x64 ult and a 3870
Found the problem (after causing putting my system through about a dozen BSODs to troubleshoot this. Thank goodness I have an SSD for a boot drive or else I’d go nuts rebooting that many times…)
I demuxed ep 1 and tried looking at each file separately. Guess which file caused the BSODs? Nope, not the video nor the audio. Not the ASS either.
It’s the Karaoke Font (Moshidora Lyrics.ttf as labelled in the MKV container.)
In the restart after I foudn that out, I remuxed the files together, leaving out the offending font and the file played back fine.
Dunno what’s up with that font file, but someone in Frostii might wanna double check it for compatility across platforms. Windows 7 built-in font viewer crashed when I tried to open it, so it’s not like it was just an isolated case of MPC-HC not being able to parse it correctly or something.
I’d offer the remux version I made, but better for Frostii as a group to offer their own fix so it’s official and not confuse people. They’ll probably substitute a new font or something. *shrug*
THANKS!!! IT WORKED, but now the opening looks like crap. My computer crashed approx 8 times… and i don’t have a SSD. Drove me nuts.
Hey Stahn, if you mux this version of Moshidora Lyrics in instead, does it still crash?:
http://fansub.me/~scab/Moshidora%20Lyrics.ttf
…or anyone else who can try? Zeo? I’ve not been able to reproduce this on either of my Win7 systems, so I’m tinkering in the dark here.
I’ve tried extracting the lyric font using MKVextract. The second I extracted the font, I got a BSOD. I think its a problem that occurs in Windows 7 x64. Not sure why. Surely I’m not going to try muxing in that font, because if that font is to stay on my HDD, there is a possibility it’ll loop back to BSOD each time I get onto windows. A font not worth downloading.
No issue with Win7 x64 here, so it’s unfortunately more complicated than that. The linked font is not the same as the one muxed into the release, so my expectation is that this one won’t cause any crash, but yeah, I understand your hesitance to test this out.
Anyone else who’s experiencing this issue who could give the linked font a go…? We’re still unable to reproduce it ourselves.
How about just replacing it with mkvmerge?
No crash on WinXP x64, using WMP. I find that after installing CCCP, depending on how far behind they are, I may or may not have to update a few components individually. Like ffdshow tryouts, and directvobsub. But I think CCCP was updated not that long ago…
The crash problem is the lyrics font file. The font file Scab supplied opens find in Windows Font Viewer.
Zeo, the reason Windows crashes on you when you try to extract the font isthe because of the fact that Windows Preview system is ALWAYS running in the background and parsing files automatically. I used a third-party file manager (Total Commander) instead which doesn’t do that. When you try to access a folder that holds the FUBAR’ed font file, Windows Explorer by default will parse the contents and try to build a preview for each file. Trust me, I ran into that problem when I tried accessing the folder I demuxed everything into with Windows Explorer (via an OPEN dialogue Window for MKVmerge) instead of Total Commander.
Anyway, the file Scab supplied works. I’ll remux a copy and see if it’s viable or not. Maybe during the muxing, something got scramble when Frostii did it. Seeing as the file open normally in Windows, I think it’ll probably work in a remux. Oh, I’ll do a file compare later between the two files and let everyone know what’s up (You can open the file via hex editor/viewer and stuff. From my experience, it only BSODs when you try opening it as a font.)
Scab, is the file you supplied the original file Frostii used?
Okay, yeah. Something must’ve got screwed during mux or something.
Scab, the font file you gave is 3,781,484 bytes (3.6 MB; CRC32 = 19AFD943). The Lyrics font in the original MKV is 242,872 bytes (237 KB, or just under 0.25MB; CRC32 = 4F1C5661). Either something got screwed during mux or a file got mixed up.
Anyway, the new font muxed in works fine. OP text comes out looking normal and no crash problem.
I supplied the CRCs for the fonts so you guys can double-check the font files you have on hand yourselves. If the original file the mxer has checks out, then something got SNAFU’ed during the actual mux job.
Oh, and my troubleshooting mux is with MKVmergeGUI v4.3.0 and the associated file-set that came in that MKVtoolnix pack. (I don’t feel like looking up the actual MKVmerge.exe version number…^_^;)
Looks like something went wrong when stripping the font of glyphs we don’t need to keep the filesizes down. In the interest of avoiding further potential issues with this, we’ll just attach the full 3.6MB font for future episodes.
For those of you experiencing this issue, there will be patches for ep1-2 out soon(ish).
Oh, and thanks for verifying this for us, Stahn.
Ah, I see. Strip-job ^_^ I’m kinda surprised you even bothered since it only saves you like 1% of the total file size, but meh. You’re the subbers, I’m just some viewer. ^_~
Anyway, no problem about the help (well, my PC might be a little upset with the number of BSODs I put it/her through. Should probably do a couple chkdsk scans later.) I’m a PC geek/nerd with experience as an electrical/electronics tech, so I’m quite used to troubleshooting technical problems.
I just wish this caused simple CTODs instead BSODs as the symptom ^_^; I knew fonts on a system could cause problems, but never realized they could cause BSODs. (Looking at this from the bright side: more experience)
I downloaded the font after hearing what you’ve typed. But I ended up getting a BSoD when I tired to open the font for preview. Took me a while to delete it off my computer….
Uh, make sure you didn’t save it in the same folder as the MKV’s with the broken font still in them. Since you have codecs installed that’ll let windows parse the MKV, it will try to do so when you access the folder with the MKV in it via Windows Explorer.
I had no problem muxing the font into the MKV, but again, I don’t use Explorer and I avoided using the OPEN dialogue windows when I imported/added it to to MKVmergeGUI (drag and drop from Total Commander instead.)
Not like it’s a big deal. Looks like Frostii will release a v2/patch later anyway. I’d rather get their official release, though I do have temporary remuxed versions I made on hand (since I did a bunch of testing.) Just wait until they release the v2′s and/or patch ^_~
I use Linux. It played with no issues. I had no BSOD when playing this…. Linux RULZ! (I had to say something about this issue. So, this was my contribution to the discussion. I hope you enjoyed it.)
What a pleasant surprise that Frostii and Saizen picked this up. I was hoping for just that. :) So thank you. Unfortunately – I too get my very first bsod.
Yay! Official patches. Guess I’ll help seed the new torrents while I’m at it ^_^
Thanks very much. Your all great!!
Aw snap… still getting bsod after running the patch.
You’re not alone. Looks like we’ll have to test this more and go v3. *sigh*
As to what you said before. I’ve deleted the old one I’ve extracted out from the video. When I downloaded the new one, I got the BSoD. So I suggest that FroZen’s just use a new font >.> Also, after patching I still got BSoD
No problem Scab. I searched for and eliminated any remaining shortcuts. Still crashed – Ep.3 as well is crashing. Hang in there
Okay, let’s do a small-scale test here. Can those of you who still experience BSoD’s (WhiteCat, Zeo, etc.) try this file out?

V3 WORKS GREAT!!!!!!!, NOW PATCH EM UP
v3 don’t create a BSoD and is working with the old MPC, not with the new 64-bit (not starting playing). I hope for patches for episode 2 and 3.
Here’s an alternative patch for v1 that should hopefully be free of above-mentioned issues. The font file, for those who want to try muxing.
just a question on episode 2, at 22:02- the character speaking is the catcher (he said something about catching Asano’s pitches earlier) but then he says something about not playing shortstop for his pitches anymore?
Since I don’t play baseball, is he just saying that he doesn’t want to catch his constant off-plate picthes or something? The line sort of threw me off the loop.
