A lot of you have been asking about Bakemono so let me give you an update which is not much. Our lovely translator got so busy in her work she has been flying east and west for the last month or so! Most of our staff, specially typesetters, kinda lost the interest with 5 eps as backlog… one of the staff is trying hard to keep this project open until Fin comes back or find replacement for the translator and 2 typesetters who already left. In Bakemono, the key staff is the typesetter, without 3 at least, this project won’t be moving even with another tl!

If you are an translator or AFX typesetter who is interested in this show, join to help! Or else, this project is slowly dying.

We do have ep2 translated and half way typeset… but what is the point of finishing it off IF we won’t be finishing the whole show, that’s what the staff think!

This week we are reminded that after all this is a Japanese show: we have robots in it! No giant robots, but still ^^

Of course these little robots aren’t just put in there for fun – they are helping to find and rescue survivors.
And so, one of the show’s newly introduced side character’s reaction to Mirai’s joking about them shows us that robots are serious business:

I’m also sure there is a pragmatical reason for the robots to mimic frequent closing of non-existant eyelids XD
Anyway – Yuuki is excited about talking to Kento – someone who actually shares his interests. Mirai is rather annoyed about his smart-alecky attitude. And of course the enthusiasm about the robots gets the kids into trouble while Mari is resting…

What can I say?  I’m just glad that they fixed “Fender Les Paul” to “Gibson Les Paul.”  Otherwise, it would have been one of the biggest disgrace any anime series could have made to the greatest inventor of the music scene.

When she wakes up in the schoolyard, where they spent the night, Mari has an headache. Meanwhile Mirai remembered that she had a pair of sneakers in her locker, so from now on she’s able to walk with less pain (literally and metaphorically I guess). When they continue their journey, Mari accidentally listens to a radio report about some huge fires in the district where she lives. She was hoping her daughter and mother would be safe there. So for Mari the question rises if she’d be moving faster without Mirai and Yuuki. Choices…

So I’ve realized that Spice and Wolf isn’t about economs, or a pagan wolfgod trying to find her ancestral homeland, or a merchant trying to do whatever it is that he’s trying to do; it’s about a high school couple going to college.

See, season one of Spice and Wolf was high school. Lawrence and Horo were hanging out and doing stuff together, and no one ever really bugged them. They might not have considered themselves to be an “item”, but everyone figured they were since they do eeeeeeeverything together.

Then, along comes season two. They’re in a new city that’s partying, everyone’s drinking beer, and everyone’s just partying.

And then there’s Amati.

See, Horo met Amati and was like, “Hello, Sir Amati.  ‘Tis a pleasure to meet you.”  And Amati, all hormonal like a college kid, goes, “Prithee, my fair lady!  Doth thou needeth thee a knight?”  And Horo’s like, “Oh, that’s so sweet. <^.^>”  And then Amati’s like, “Thou shallt be mine!”  Then Lawrence is like, “Whoa, you did not just go there, bro.”  And Amati’s like, “Oh, I went there.”  Then Lawrence is like, “You better step off, son.”  And Amati’s like, “Bring it, old man.”  Then Lawrence is like, “Oh, it will be broughtted.”  While this is going on, everyone else is drinking beer going, “WHOOOOO!  FIGHT!”

See?  Just like college.
